Arthur Stuart Hanisch created Quixote Foundation in 1997. We're inspired by the passion, leadership and progressive philanthropic spirit Stuart showed during his lifetime, and we're lucky to have a chance to build on the work he began.

We try hard to conserve natural and human resources. Please help by reading this site carefully before contacting us.

Proposals are accepted by invitation only and we don't distribute guidelines. We have five interest areas. Our specific priorities evolve with current events, so please check this site frequently for up-to-date information.

In general, we're big fans of grantmaking for operating support, capacity building, convening, programs, policy and messaging research, grassroots outreach and activism. Normally we don't fund endowment or capital projects.
